Fleas are a serious problem and anything that can be done to prevent them infesting your dog in the first place is well worth the effort. I use frontline, which seems to keep them at bay very well. I also bathe her once a week with Bob Martin flea shampoo. It sounds excessive and I certainly never thought a little dog in a small garden could ever get so infested, but alas, she loves running around in the hedges chasing butterflies. It's an ongoing struggle to keep her flea-less, but I do it to spare her the scratching that drives her (and me) nuts!
